Child Abduction Prevention

In response to the recent high profile kidnappings of children, the Law Offices of Michael A. DeMayo, L.L.P. ® is offering a free child abduction prevention guide for parents.

Preventing Child Abductions: A Guide for Parents explains where kidnappings occur, who kidnaps children, tricks used by kidnappers to lure children into cars and contains tips on how to protect your children, including the use of a family code word.

The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children reports that there are approximately 55,000 cases of child abductions by non-family members in the United States every year. Last year, 201 children were kidnapped and killed by strangers, the FBI reports.

Additionally, according to the FBI's National Crime Center, nearly 85 to 90 percent of the 876,213 people reported missing to America's law enforcement agencies in 2000 were children.

"That means 2,100 times per day parents felt the disappearance of their child was serious enough to call law enforcement," said attorney and father of four, Michael A. DeMayo.

Your free guide can be picked up at the Law Offices of Michael A. DeMayo, L.L.P. ®, 1211 East Morehead Street in Charlotte. You can call (704) 333-1000 to have a copy mailed to you, or visit one of our links below to download a copy.
