Attorney Susan Rhodes Earns Workers Compensation Law Certification

CHARLOTTE, NC (December 23, 2008) – Attorney Susan Rhodes was recently certified by the North Carolina State Bar as a specialist in workers’ compensation law. Rhodes, an attorney with the Law Offices of Michael A. DeMayo, L.L.P. ® since 2003, concentrates in the area of workers’ compensation. She is one of 101 lawyers statewide and 18 in Charlotte to receive this distinction.

Rhodes received her BA from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and her MA from Western University Carolina. Rhodes went on to complete law school at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and was admitted to the state bar in 1987. She is licensed to practice in all courts in North Carolina and U.S. District Court in Western and Middle District Courts of North Carolina.

The North Carolina State Bar certifies lawyers as specialists in designated practice areas as a service to the public. The program assists members of the public in the selection of legal counsel by identifying lawyers who have demonstrated special knowledge, skill and proficiency in certain areas of law. The program also gives lawyers a credible way of making their expertise known to the public and other lawyers.

To be certified as a specialist in a practice area, a lawyer must have been in practice for at least five years, devote a significant part of his or her practice to the specialty area, attend continuing legal education seminars in the specialty, be favorably evaluated by other lawyers and judges, and pass a written examination in the specialty practice area.

“Not only is Susan certified as a specialist in her field, but she is one of the most compassionate and consummate professionals I have ever had the pleasure or working with in North Carolina,” said attorney Michael A. DeMayo. “This recognition is just a formal acknowledgement of what we already know about her legal skills.”

The Law Offices of Michael A. DeMayo, L.L.P. have offices in Charlotte, Hickory and Monroe and practices in the areas of personal injury, wrongful death, workers’ compensation, medical malpractice, nursing home negligence and social security disability.
