SSRI
SSRI stands for Selective Serotonin Re-uptake Inhibitor. SSRIs are types of drugs that are made by many different companies and have been used for many years to treat depression and other psychological disorders.
SSRIs are anti-depressant drugs like Paxil or Serzone that provide solutions for people suffering from anxiety and depression. SSRIs are specifically used to treat people with:
- Panic Disorder
- Obsessive Compulsive Disorder
- Eating Disorders
- Anxiety
- Social Phobias
In order to correct these problems, SSRIs inhibit the body’s ability to reabsorb its natural levels of serotonin. This causes more serotonin to stay within the body, correcting the serotonin imbalance present in people with psychological disorders.
SSRIs may be helpful for many people, but they have the ability to cause serious side effects both during and after SSRI use. Some of the leading problems with SSRIs are the withdrawal symptoms. Some SSRI side effects and withdrawal symptoms include:
- Weight Gain
- Sexual Dysfunction
- Akathisia
- Insomnia
- Panic Attacks
- Severe Depression
- Dizziness
- Fatigue
- Flashbacks
- Numbness
- Bleeding
- Seizures
- Paranoia
- Emotionless
